Brodilovo

Brodilovo, Beradiu, Brodivo, Pordicos. The village is situated on the left bank of Veleka River by a ford which gave it the name and 20km south of Tsarevo.

There are three forts in Bordilovo region. First is in the south of the village. It is on a hill dominates the area called “Kaleto”. The second one is in a site of “Peftich” and 1km west of Brodilovo. The wall is from stones without plaster. There is a fort in the site of “Plakata”. It was surrounded by a moat. In the southeast of the village there are remains of an old church which gave the name of the place Paleoklios. Here the wall is from stones with white plaster. There are three tumulus necropolis and signs from metallurgic activities. The earliest mentioning of the village is in the salt trade documents from 1498. There are 32 households counted. It was found in the register of Anhialo region from XVII too. The village was marked as Brodivo on the map of Heinrich Kiepert from the end of the last century.

Until 12th July 1914 the inhabitants of the village were Greek fire-dancers. There was a chapel in the house of the oldest one Georgi Gligor.

After the wars Brodilovo was inhabited by Bulgarian refugees from East Trace.

In 1926 there were 221 houses in it and 1110 inhabitants, 720 of which were refugees from East Trace. There are 488 inhabitants there now.
